A Real Passion For Drums

BIO

Native Montrealer William Barbieri started the drums at 8 years old and was recruited by his brother into a rock band called “Feedback” two years later. They performed cover songs from AC/DC, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, U2 and the Black Keys and played many community events, High School talent shows, battles of the bands, and restaurant gigs. During his musical studies at Vanier College at 18 years old, Barbieri developed a taste for Jazz and was heavily influenced by drummers such as Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Steve Gadd, Steve Smith, Todd Sucherman, Tony Williams and Elvin Jones while blending in with other aspiring musicians at school. It was at Vanier where he joined a progressive pop-punk rock band, “Lost Lighthouse” that had released their debut EP titled "Heterochromia" in 2019 and toured in Ontario and Quebec. They are currently recording and preparing for the release of their debut full length album in 2026. Complimenting his love of the drum kit, Barbieri has also played percussion for the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra, performing at several churches, concert halls, high schools and municipal events. In 2022, he graduated with a bachelor in Jazz studies at Concordia University, while making further musical connections with other fellow musicians. He recently joined another local Montreal hard rock band, "Hail to the North" performing at several bars and fundraising events around the West Island, such as Ribfest and Jamboree. In 2025, he graduated from McGill University with a Licentiate in percussion performance. Barbieri's mission is to inspire and pass on the fruits of his music knowledge and techniques to newcomers on the drum set, while maintaining a steady grip on his performance career as a drummer/percussionist.
